From the Authors: Kat and I founded Balmy Lane Press in response to my passion for the written word, which was ignited by my grandmother when I was six.
The Beginning
Allow me to reminisce about tranquil Sunday afternoons spent in Grandma’s company. She would gently rock back and forth, engrossed in a captivating novel or immersed in the challenge of solving word puzzles.
One day in April, I held up the puzzle book I gave my Grandmother for Christmas and asked, “When are you going to solve the puzzles in this one?”
Her warm smile accompanied her response, “Oh, I’d love to, honey. It’s delightful, but these tired old eyes struggle with the squiggly words without my magnifying glass.”
I’d love to solve the puzzles in that book,” she said, but bad vision in these old eyes makes it difficult.”
Just as I started to feel bad for giving her something she couldn’t see, Grandma said, “Here’s an idea; you finish it, bring it back, and show me when you do!”
That day, Grandma changed the trajectory of my life. I always wanted to solve a puzzle with her; now, I could solve one for her. Wide-eyed, I opened the book to the first empty puzzle and could see it fine. Within a week, I finished that first book for grandma and completed hundreds more over the years.
In Grandma’s memory, our first publication was Large Print Puzzles for Busy Women.
The Balmy Lane Press Purpose
We established our press to share positive, inspirational content with our readers, young and old. Our mission is to publish uplifting, positivity-focused media that entertains, educates, and enriches lives.
Based in California, we proudly support St. Vincent De Paul, Hospice, and our Community Library.
We aim to spread positivity one book at a time on this journey of words and inspiration. Let’s enjoy the ride together.
