Grief raises its head at any time, taking us by surprise, or stretching it out as a friend or pet lingers before transition.
A friend lost someone close recently, and although we haven’t seen one another in years, I know she is taking it hard. This message to her is my way of hopefully helping her and anyone else living through this rough segment of life.
My Grandma’s Wisdom
When we lose someone we love, even a pet, the emptiness they leave behind can feel impossible to fill, overwhelming grief can immobilize us, and the ache can seem endless.
But here’s something my grandmother taught me, something I resisted for decades yet now believe with my whole heart: spirits don’t die, love doesn’t disappear, and the ones we’ve loved and lost don’t simply drift away. They become our spiritual angels.
To some, that might sound far-fetched, and that’s okay; to each their own, but my experiences have had a way of softening my disbelief. I know now that my mom is one of my angels, along with a few others. There are moments, quiet and unexpected, when I feel them near, guiding, nudging, comforting.
Memories During Grief Connect Spirits
Every time we think of our loved ones, they stir again. A memory that rises out of nowhere, a sudden warmth, a perfectly timed thought, these aren’t coincidences. That’s a connection from a love that has changed form, not vanished.
So if you’re missing someone today, remember this: when they cross your mind, they are responding. They walk beside you when you listen with your heart, and I’ll bet they are still giving good advice. 🙂
Our loved ones never leave us. They simply move into a place where they can watch over us patiently and hang out with us when needed. Grief softens with time, but love remains firm. The people we’ve lost live on as a quiet, enduring presence.
The spirit, like energy, doesn’t end; it evolves. And when a memory arrives uninvited or a familiar feeling brushes past, you are not alone; they are sharing that memory with you.
Each thought of them is a gentle summoning, a reminder that their essence lives on within us. Remember, love is energy, and energy is forever. It surrounds us, lingers, walks with us, and inevitably outlives us.
